Last week, Cher made headlines when she was spotted holding hands with a mystery new man while leaving dinner at a Los Angeles restaurant. Quickly, the 76-year-old legendary singer’s date was identified by the internet as 34-year-old musician Alexander “AE” Edwards, who works as the VP of A and R at the record label Def Jam and who previously dated, and has a child with, model Amber Rose.
The photos ― including one of Edwards kissing Cher’s hand ― raised eyebrows about the pair’s 40-year age gap. Something Cher has now addressed in her signature way: with a succinct tweet.
“LOVE DOESN’T KNOW MATH, IT SEES ❤️ ❤️,” Cher wrote on the app in a since-deleted tweet, before posting a close-up photo of Edwards’ face, simply writing, “Alexander ❤️,” as the caption. She went on to share that the two met at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year and that Edwards has met “everyone in my family” and treats her “like a queen.”

When one fan wrote about being “immediately suspicious of his intentions,” Cher opted to reply, writing that she wasn’t “born yesterday,” before later adding to a different fan that she doesn’t “GIVE A✈️FK WHAT ANYONE THINKS.”
“As we All Know …I WASNT BORN YESTERDAY,& What I Know For Sure…There Are No Guarantees,” Cher wrote. “Anytime you make a Choice You Take a Chance.I’ve Always Taken Chances…It’s WHO I Am.”
She then added in a separate tweet to another person writing they were “suspicious,” “Haven’t You Got Anything Else 2 Do⁉️ Let Me Explain…I DONT GIVE A✈️FK WHAT ANYONE THINKS.”
Last year, when speaking to People about her dating history, which includes younger men such as Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer, Cher said, “The truth was if I hadn’t gone out with younger men, I would have never had a date. Younger men weren’t intimidated by older women. But older men in my age category, they weren’t having it.”
