Last month as Britney Spears celebrated the end of her 13 year-long conservatorship, it was reported that Justin Timberlake wanted to speak to his ex “privately”. While the pop star has seemingly declined that offer with silence, she did open up about the very messy and very public breakup on a social media tirade this week.

In a now-deleted post (screenshots obtained by ET Online), Spears revealed that she “couldn’t speak” following the split. The 40-year-old also detailed the horrific treatment she went through during the infamous Diane Sawyer interview that followed.

“Do we dare forget the Diane Sawyer interview in my apartment almost 20 years ago???” Spears wrote. “What was with the ‘you’re in the wrong’ approach?? Geeze … and making me cry???”

For those unacquainted with the 2004 interview, the former ABC broadcaster pressed the “Womanizer” singer on whether she was unfaithful in the relationship. Spears was also asked about a supposed shopping addiction. “I lived in my apartment for a year and never spoke to anyone,” she continued. “My manager put that woman in my home and made me talk to her on national television and she asked me if I had a shopping problem.”

“Something I never shared when I had that break up years ago was that I couldn’t talk afterward,” she wrote. “I was in shock… pretty lame of my dad and three men to show up at my door when I could hardly speak… two days later they put Diane Sawyer in my living room… they forced me to talk!”

The rant comes after Spears is now allowed to manage her own finances for the first time in over a decade. She added, “Anyway I am able to have cash now so I went to an ATM and was so proud of my $300… and no I’m not embarrassed to share this … well maybe a little … but I’m more embarrassed for my family for condoning the fact that I wasn’t allowed to have cash for so long when I worked my little a** off for them.”

In February, Timberlake published a written apology to Instagram where he admitted to obscuring her reputation in the media. Spears is yet to respond publicly.
