Blake Lively is back on the red carpet, in case you hadn’t noticed. The star, who is known for her ultra glamorous turns at Hollywood soirées, made a triumphant return to the circuit with a shimmering backless Prabal Gurung gown from the designer’s Resort 22 collection. While the sexy midriff cut-outs were eye catching, we were equally as enamored by her hair.

The 33-year-old’s blonde locks were pulled back into a voluminous ponytail, with the lengths braided together alongside sparkling Lorraine Schwartz chains and strands of  diamonds. The braid was left loose, giving the bedazzled look a decidedly bohemian air – not unlike the hairstyles worn by Lively’s former Gossip Girl character, Serena van der Woodsen.

The fictional teenager often wore jewels and accessories in her hair in unconventional ways – perhaps most notably at her graduation, when she ditched her Constance Billard grad cap and pinned the tassle into her hair instead. Lively has proven a fan of intricate hairstyles also, having worn fishtail braids with gilded hair pins and even a crystal halo in the past.

However this most recent take, created by hairstylist Rod Ortega, might just be our new favorite. The relaxed braid makes it wearable enough for most occasions, with the added touch of diamonds and chains taking the look to the next level.

We’re also big fans of her manicure, which featured pressed flower nail art. Lively’s manicurist Elle created a different floral look for each of the star’s digits, resulting in a softly detailed finish that didn’t look too busy against the rest of Lively’s look.
