As we enter the new year, a lot of us are reflecting on the past 12 months. A year that for most people was the most tumultuous of their lives – what with a global pandemic, economic crisis, civil rights movement and the president of the free world refusing to concede… you know, just the usual.

Though a lot of the problems that we’ve been dealing with head-on this year were the result of decades – or centuries – of buildup, such as the global race reckoning after the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, 2020 has gotten the brunt of our frustrations. People are looking towards New Year’s Eve, and the clock striking 12, as a fresh start and goodbye to all of the wild chaos we’ve ensued.

Though that thinking might be a bit too simple – London, for example, is currently worse off, COVID-wise, than it was back in March during the first outbreak – who can blame us for collectively wanting to breathe a sign of relief just for surviving?

Beyoncé is one who wants to celebrate closing the door on 2020, gifting her friends and family the perfect present to see out the year: a necklace that reads 2020 with a middle finger, AKA f*ck 2020.

On Instagram, Angie Beyince, the popstar’s cousin, shared a photo of a gold chain necklace featuring a “2020” pendant, which, upon closer inspection, doubles as a middle finger due to the varying sizing of its numbers.

“@beyonce gifted all of her girls with this amazing custom 2020 necklace,” Beyince wrote in the caption. “‘🖕2020’ It’s a hand with middle finger and the year 2020 combined into one. When I opened it my eyes teared up because it is both Hilarious & Deeply Sentimental. 2020 has had ups and downs but over all its been a really weird and tuff year. Hopefully 2021 is good to the world 🌎 🙏 #nye #beyonce.”

Tina Knowles-Lawson, Beyonce’s mother, also uploaded a selfie of herself wearing the new jewellery.  “❤️note my Christmas present (my necklace) from Beyonce f__k 2020 two many losses !!! But it is almost over and we are still here !!! Give God Some❤️” she wrote in the caption.

Well, there you have it. Even celebrities with their millions of dollars, mansions and rather, shall we say, privileged lives are sick to death of 2020. So that means that us mere mortals have a free-pass to pop the bubbles and feel the exact same way.

Bey, if you need my address for shipping, let me know.
