Seoul Fashion Week

Despite COVID-19 cases hitting record highs in South Korea the past week, Seoul Fashion Week kicked off its Fall-Winter 2022 season on Friday with a hybrid schedule of live shows (its first in three years) and virtual presentations.

It’s no secret that some of the most exciting and inspiring fashion moments have been coming from the country’s incredibly popular K-Pop superstars. Blackpink’s Jennie is a Chanel ambassador, and the boy band BTS collaborated on a line of merch with Nordstrom; plus, they’re becoming style stars in their own right (see: BTS Jimin‘s iconic Celine and Louis Vuitton red carpet moments).

But South Korean style goes beyond the A-listers, and can be spotted right on the streets outside of Seoul’s Museum of Craft Art, the main venue for the season. One thing we’ve been noticing is that showgoers are embracing a minimalist aesthetic, (à la Helmut Lang’s iconic 1990s collections), and are putting their own fresh takes on relaxed, wide-leg and cargo pants (perhaps skinny jeans have finally met their match?). To bring the throwback style full circle, attendees are teaming knit basics with oversize jackets and blazers, in a nod to Prada’s Fall 2022 show styling.

Ahead, GRAZIA USA rounded up the best looks from photographer Jieon Park, who snapped these ’90s-embracing showgoers during Seoul Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2022.
