Sometimes there are life hacks, and then sometimes, there’s…whatever Channing Tatum decided to do. Per People, the actor once tried to use a vacuum cleaner to gather his daughter Everly’s hair into a ponytail. “I completely panicked when I found out we were having a girl,” the dad of one shared in an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Tuesday, May 4. “I literally went to YouTube and started figuring out, like, I think the first one I saw was a dad vacuuming up his daughter’s hair with a hair tie on the vacuum, and I was like, ‘that’s genius.'”

While the hair hack may have worked for the dad in the YouTube video Tatum watched, it didn’t work when he tried it himself on his daughter’s strands. The Magic Mike star may be a multihyphenate, but it looks like “hairstylist” may not be one of the descriptors for him. This did, however, get us thinking (perhaps, inspired by our concern that you, reader, might consider taking a vacuum to your head), and so we gathered five of our favorite blow dryers for you all to try, so we can learn from Tatum’s mistakes, and not repeat them.
