Sometimes there are life hacks, and then sometimes, there’s…whatever Channing Tatum decided to do. Per People, the actor once tried to use a vacuum cleaner to gather his daughter Everly’s hair into a ponytail. “I completely panicked when I found out we were having a girl,” the dad of one shared in an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Tuesday, May 4. “I literally went to YouTube and started figuring out, like, I think the first one I saw was a dad vacuuming up his daughter’s hair with a hair tie on the vacuum, and I was like, ‘that’s genius.'”
While the hair hack may have worked for the dad in the YouTube video Tatum watched, it didn’t work when he tried it himself on his daughter’s strands. The Magic Mike star may be a multihyphenate, but it looks like “hairstylist” may not be one of the descriptors for him. This did, however, get us thinking (perhaps, inspired by our concern that you, reader, might consider taking a vacuum to your head), and so we gathered five of our favorite blow dryers for you all to try, so we can learn from Tatum’s mistakes, and not repeat them.
This mint-colored blow dryer is a one-way track to the perfect blowout. It’s lightweight and comes with eight heat, speed, and ion settings for maximum styling capabilities, as well as a cold blast button. But the best part? You don’t have to worry about frizz!
This writer has a lot of hair. Take whatever amount of hair you’re thinking of, multiply it, and that’s probably half of the amount of hair on my head. Blow dryers used to take hours, and that was if my arms didn’t give up beforehand—until the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer entered my life. It cut my blowouts down by two-thirds the time it used to take, and my hair always feels smooth and shiny afterward. All that said, it’s undoubtedly worth the steep price point.
Not only is this a gorgeous hairdryer, but it works using Digital IonAir technology to give you quicker drying times, barely any heat damage, and leave you with bouncy, soft, healthy-looking hair. Somehow, your hair will feel healthier after using a heating tool than before. We can’t say it’s magic, but we can’t say it’s not, either.
Even if you say you don’t know how to blow dry your hair, you can claim you’re a master stylist with this dryer. It’s the blow dryer you need if you’ve got frizzy or curly hair, as it will give you sleek, silk-like smoothness in basically no time.
If we’re going to trust any name on the blow drying front, it’s Kristin Ess, who’s responsible for giving Lauren Conrad and Lucy Hale some of their best blowouts. This tool comes with an ionic on/off button to tailor your blow-dry to your hair type.
