If anyone is going to pull off low-waisted cargo pants and a barely-there crop, it’s going to be Bella Hadid. In her latest sartorial head turner, the model has taken the cardigan trend to the extreme with a teeny weeny fuchsia pink iteration courtesy of Jacquemus.

On Instagram she published a series of selfies captioned, “@jacquemus the male version of me” followed by a chaotic number of emojis. The 24-year-old is seemingly broadcasting from the Jacquemus Paris showroom. Her sartorial trip through Paris also featured an ensemble from Nicola Brognano (another throwback to the ’90s) with a one-shoulder top with woollen trim and low rise leather pants.

Hadid is not one to follow trends, rather she influences them. With waistlines dropping (Irina Shayk makes a great case for low rise jeans here) and crop tops creeping higher each season, it seems Hadid is encouraging the return of some very polarizing ’90s trends.

If anything her latest look is reminiscent to Christina Aguilera’s early days. The exact Jacquemus top in question seems to be a summer iteration of the popular Autumn/Winter 2021 ‘Le cardigan Alzou’ or perhaps a bespoke cut from the same style. The perks of being friends with one of the world’s most celebrated designers.

At the weekend Hadid landed in Paris for the Dior Men’s Spring/Summer 2022 show where she attended as a guest. The long-time ambassador to the French house wore a black halter-neck tank, leather snake skin pants, a briefcase in the matching green print and black stilettos.

What will she wear next? As borders remain closed much of the world here in Australia, I’m going to live vicariously through Hadid’s European summer until further notice.
