Punxatuney Phil (our seasonal authoritarian groundhog) proclaimed six more months of winter. As we endure these additional chilly days, many of us have found a new love (necessity?) for accessories that keep us warm and cozy while braving the elements. During New York Fashion Week, the balaclava took center stage alongside beanies and fuzzy hats. However, fashion’s biggest trendsetter of today, Bella Hadid, opted for something a little different.
Yesterday the 25-year-old model was spotted wearing a pair of nude earmuffs paired with a long plaid trench coat on the last day of fashion week. The previous day, she was seen leaving a show in a pair of oh-so-chic oversized fluffy black earmuffs.
To be quite candid, we can’t remember the last time we thought of earmuffs (perhaps, Marc Jacobs 2001 collection?) However, the model makes a strong case for the revival, peruse of her outfit choices. Hadid has never been afraid of taking outfit risks; just look at her sporting kidcore. Equally, we’ve never not liked her Y2K meets streetwear aesthetic that she pulls off perfectly.
Hadid has actually sported the cozy accessory before. In October, she wore a pair of fuzzy earmuffs that doubled as headphones in a bold blue hue. The earmuffs were a limited edition (only ten made in the world) between Kerwin Frost and Beats by Dre. It seems Hadid is serious about her earmuffs.
Whether earmuffs will become the latest winter accessory must-have is hard to say just yet, it’s certainly a trend for Hadid (three’s a trend). However, just taking a look at her past risqué fashion moments, we’re sure to see these make their way to the hottest accessories trends list in no time.
