It turns out creative director Olivier Rousteing’s Spring-Summer 2022 collection for Balmain held a not-so-subtle indication of the future of the luxury Parisian maison. Looks 3 and 38 from the extensive collection featured models wearing exaggerated gold chain links worn as tops, later worn by Elle Fanning on the red carpet of the InStyle Awards. Now five months after the collections debut, Balmain has announced it will be expanding into fine jewelry this summer—perfect timed to pair with the collection’s ready-to-wear pieces.

Balmain’s inaugural fine jewelry collection will feature 32 gender-neutral and socially conscious designs. The label will be produced of ethically sourced 18-karat gold, “conflict-free minerals,” and traceable gemstones. Balmain chief executive officer Jean-Jacques Guével calls the fine jewelry launch a “natural extension of Balmain’s luxury universe.” At the same time, Rousteing notes that “everything that comes out of our studio remains true to the house’s audacious, inclusive spirit and always-bold silhouette—making it possible to quickly recognize a Balmain design.” in a statement shared with WWD.

Although Balmain has its hand in costume and contemporary jewelry, the brand is enlisting the Adorisa Group for the fine jewelry collection. The Paris-based company is known for its unparallel designs, production, markets, and distributes fine jewelry collections under licenses for fashion and couture houses. Peruse of Rousteing’s ready-to-wear collections; the fine jewelry will feature bold and modern designs while honoring the heritage of the historic fashion house’s code.

Additional details on the collection remain undisclosed but what we do know is that the Balmain fine jewelry collection will be available worldwide at Balmain boutiques, leading luxury retailers we’re the brand’s other collections are sold, as well as on balmain.com.IN the meantime, let’s revisit the astonishing Balmain Festival V02 Womenswear Spring/Summer 2022 show to give us some inspo.
