One of the most elusive style savants, Ashley Olsen, made a rare public appearance in Long Island over the Fourth of July long weekend. The actress-turned-fashion designer offered a glimpse at her effortless and balmy getaway style while shopping at a local farmer’s market in The Hamptons with her husband, Louis Eisner.
For the occasion, Olsen donned an extremely oversized white cotton shirt featuring rolled-up sleeves and a half-buttoned-down finish. She completed the on-the-go look with a pair of navy tracksuit pants and contrasting leather thongs. Given her allegiance to her coveted luxury fashion label, The Row, it’s presumed all pieces are her own designs. See the relaxed ensemble for yourself, here.
The low-key outing follows a sighting of her twin sister, Mary-Kate Olsen, bringing an old flame to The Row’s new boutique in Amagansett. (Yes, to a specific type of Manhattanite, this bucolic hamlet flagship is considered a “general store”.)

Despite the Olsen twins’ infrequent excursions, each paparazzi shot is like catnip for adherents of their decisively minimal style. However, the mother-of-one’s recent errand run is especially out of the ordinary given that she was spotted wearing the same piece of clothing twice in one month.
Indeed, while celebrating her 38th birthday on the 13th of June, Olsen was spotted on the streets of New York following a solo spa date. Given how difficult it is to source slouchy, albeit elevated, separates to schlep around the city in, her sartorial acolytes took note of her matching navy collared crew neck and sweatpants. Now, at the beachy garden stand, the set has found a new resolve in this rustic setting.
Thankfully for us stalwarts of Olsen’s wardrobe, this outing has also given us the key to her style secret: borrowing from her husband. Yes, as it turns out, the sweater she wore on her birthday actually belongs to her artist partner, with the oversized trousers perhaps on loan from his closet, too. If this wasn’t a sign to start shopping in the men’s section—as some of the most stylish women in the world have been known to do—we don’t know what is.
