It’s safe to say that Ashley Olsen remains to be one of the most stylish women on the planet. So when a trend straddles the line between cool and gauche, her stamp of approval is enough to take it over the line. Her latest look, though, features a controversial choice of footwear that even her most loyal followers might not be able to get around.

While snaps of the Olsen twins have always generated buzz, given their immense influence and inimitable knack for styling, this sighting (see photos here) of the former Full House star features one of her more relatable ensembles.

With her Starbucks in hand, the actress-turned-designer was spotted wearing a signature amalgam of baggy layers in stone-washed wide-leg jeans under a navy blue coat. She covered up with a beanie and black sunglasses and donned a crocodile tote bag. But instead of opting for her usual loafers or flats, the 37-year-old embraced Dadcore with white tube socks and Birkenstock slides.

The outing comes a few months after Olsen reportedly welcomed a son named Otto with her husband, Louis Eisner, in secret, so it’s no wonder the designer is opting for comfortable shoes.

But functionality aside, she’s part of an illustrious list of women—some even unofficial ambassadors of her brand, The Row—that endorse the pairing. From Zoe Kravitz and Jennifer Lawrence to Rihanna and Hailey Bieber, the look is a go-to of the style set. Playing into the ‘Wrong Shoe Theory’, which tells us how an unexpected footwear choice can elevate an outfit, Olsen is a major advocate for pairing down-to-earth footwear with luxurious wardrobe pieces. And, to give credit where credit is due, Ashley and her sister, Mary-Kate, have been rocking this trend for years, proving once again that they’re always one step ahead.
