If you were out East this past weekend, you likely know how perfect the weather was. Located in the heart of Southampton, La Soeur, owned by Olivia Reagan, obviously knows how to curate the best of the best for her Hamptons clientele, so naturally, it served as the venue for Anna Rachel Studio’s pop-up.
Anna Rachel Studio’s founder Rachel Emmons enlisted artist Jason Stopa, Tommy May, Sarah Kim, Gwen O’Neil, Walter Robinson, Marcus Brutus, Trudy Benson, and Austin Eddy on a small batch limited edition collection. “Fashion and painting have always taken cues and inspiration from each other… even sometimes working hand-in-hand on collaborations,” says Emmon’s. “Just look at Richard Prince & Jeff Koons x Luis Vuitton, Comme Comme Des Garçons x Cindy Sherman to name a few.”
The public-facing event invited locals and friends into the store to discover the one-of-a-kind hand-painted purses. To celebrate the exquisite artist bags, attendees, including some of the artists (Gwen O’Neil, Tommy May, and Anthony Gelfand), were met with specialty cocktails sponsored by woman-founded and owned vodka brand Harridan.
Guests were ready to ditch their bags for one of Anna Rachel Studio’s unique artist collaboration designs—And rightfully so. In addition to the artist bags, Emmon’s curates vintage bags, also on display at La Souer. There was a note-worthy tiny gold cigarette case I couldn’t take my eyes off of that would function perfectly as a modern-day micro statement bag.
