Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s rom-com-esque romantic reunion that no one saw coming doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. In fact, Lopez is reportedly looking at moving from Miami to Los Angeles to be closer to her former fiancé, despite just breaking up with her other fiancé, Alex Rodriguez. a few months ago.
Speaking of Rodriguez—and Affleck, actually—the former Major League Baseball player was spotted over the weekend at the Hamptons party of Saturday Night Live producer Lindsay Shookus. The wild connection? Shookus famously dated Affleck on and off for two years from 2017-2019.
To recap, Lopez and Affleck who previously dated Rodriguez and Shookus are back together, and Rodriguez and Shookus are now hanging out. It’s common knowledge that everyone in Hollywood loves to date everyone elses’ exes, but this is just too much.
Thankfully, according to Rodriguez’s team who spoke to PEOPLE, the sports star and Shookus have been friends for “15 years.” So romantically, “there is nothing there at all.” But the chat at the party must have been good. Oh, to be a fly on a Hamptons’ wall.
Rodriguez and Lopez, who got engaged in the Bahamas in March 2019 after two years of dating, ended their engagement in April after reports surfaced that Rodriguez had been DM’ing reality TV star Madison LeCroy.
Following their split, Lopez was very quickly seen spending time with Affleck. Something Rodriguez, according to a source who spoke with PEOPLE, was “not thrilled” about. No kidding?
In May, Rodriguez addressed the drama on his Instagram Story, writing, “I am about to step into a new beginning in my life. Anything that doesn’t serve me is clearing out of my life.”
He continued, “New energy is emerging. New levels are unlocking for me mentally, physically, and spiritually. I am remaining patient and know that this new phase of my life is coming.”
Does that new phase include Shookus? Likely not, but let’s just hope so for the WTF factor of it all.
