Adele is no stranger to turning looks wherever she may go, whether it’s performing on stage or sitting court-side at a Lakers game in Louis Vuitton, she always seems to have an effortless glamor about her. As the singer gears up to perform for her CBS special with Oprah Winfrey, titled Adele: One Night Only, we’re getting some sneak peaks into the looks Adele will be wearing for both her performance of new music and for her interview with Oprah.

On Tuesday morning, Lorraine Kelly gave viewers a brief look into the outfits Adele will be wearing ahead of her special to celebrate the release of her fourth studio album, 30, which is set for release on November 19. A lucky few in an intimate crowd got a private concert from Adele at the Griffith Observatory  in Los Angeles, hearing some yet to be released tracks from 30.

The first look we see is a nipped and tucked black velvet fishtail gown that she can be seen wearing on stage. The cowl-necked gown flourishes behind Adele’s neck and shoulder, giving the singer a regal appearance which follows down to the ground. In a sea of black fabric, Adele commands the stage.

The black fabric might even be a nod to some symbolism. As we know, 30 is a treacherous journey through Adele’s divorce and struggle to navigate heartbreak, so this gown could easily be seen as a mourning garment utilized to symbolize the death of her marriage.

The looks swiftly transitions into something completely different when we see the interview with Oprah. Adele can be seen in a pure white suit, with slacks to boot and a jacket to match. This is her power outfit, out of the darkness of heartbreak and into the light of owning herself, defining herself on her own terms. Adele has never really been one for fashion stunts, her message often lies in elements that are a bit more subtle, but oh so effective when you break her code.
