Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo are one of those low-key celebrity couples you almost forget about, in the best of ways. Despite being one of the biggest musician and model pairings on the planet, the two seem unusually down to earth, humble and kind—something only further confirmed by their Architectural Digest home tour which was released this week.
Levine and Prinsloo relocated from Beverly Hills to their current home in the Pacific Palisades, where they found a one-story ranch house with a big backyard: “a rarity in LA,” Prinsloo told the publication. In the accompanying video released to coincide with their cover shoot and interview, the couple finish each other’s sentences and are clearly still incredibly in love, nine years into their relationship.
“Beverly Hills just started to feel hectic. It’s strangely central, so we felt surrounded by the city. We wanted to live somewhere quieter, where you don’t hear the traffic and feel the stress,” Levine noted, before adding, “We didn’t want a palatial McMansion. That’s just not who we are.”
The pair, who share daughters, Dusty, 4 and Gio, 3, were also attracted to their house “because it felt homey.” Prinsloo noted, “You could tell that kids had lived here before,” likely talking about previous owner’s, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, who share three children together.
Levine’s inspiration for his walk-in wardrobe was none other than Kanye West. After seeing West show David Letterman around his closet on Letterman’s Netflix special, Levine said “I just started to drool.” Prinsloo then showed the camera around her own wardrobe space, saying she cried when she saw her walk-in wardrobe for the first time—so did I, to be honest—and added she lies on the daybed to take time out for herself.
For the modern, chic yet comfortable design throughout their home, the couple tapped the mother-son team of Clements Design to help bring their vision to life. “We basically stripped it all down,” Tommy Clements told AD of their process. “We simplified the materials and color palette and exposed the bones of the house to create a beautiful, neutral backdrop for their collections of art and design.”
“Adam is an obsessive design junkie,” Kathleen Clements added. “He and Behati like to live with beautiful things, but in a super-casual way, where the kids have the run of the house, and friends and family are always welcome.”
To go alongside their spacious backyard, the house also has a sauna, a pool, a gym and a yoga studio. There’s also a theatre room for entertaining and watching movies with the kids, and a bar for adults-only time.
“The COVID lockdown made us especially grateful to have this place,” Levine shared. “In a world where nothing ever seems to be enough, our home feels like a genuine unicorn, our perfect sanctuary.”
