A youthquake hit California overnight as Elle Fanning, Timothée Chalamet and the cast of the new Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, flocked to Hollywood Boulevard for the film’s grand Los Angeles premiere.
The phrase, coined by Diana Vreeland to describe the counterculture movement that rocked America at the time, feels like the perfect adjective to describe the wave of swinging 60s silhouettes that dominated the red carpet. From mod shapes to vintage accents, the band of Young Hollywood starlets paid homage to the era of the movie in a way not too dissimilar to the folk singer’s nascent rise: leisurely then altogether electrifying.
None did this better than Fanning, who arrived in a custom Gucci gown and “extra sparkles”, as she wrote on Instagram, from Cartier.

The dress was made from a white silk cady and featured a sultry open back and dazzling crystal strass embellishment along the straps and hems.
Taking a page from Pamela Anderson’s book, the 26-year-old elevated her understated aesthetic with a bold hairstyle, fashioning her blonde locks into a flipped bouffant-esque updo that ended into two sweet baby pigtails. She also teased her tresses into a slight pouf, which she pinned back with a precious bow beret.

Though Fanning’s style leant more into bohemian tailoring of the 70s for the press tour, there is no denying she’s a paragon of the sleek minimalism synonymous with the decade. Twiggy, is that you?
Elsewhere on the red carpet, the film’s lead Timothée Chalamet finally embraced method dressing in black skinny chinos, a grey button down and a black leather jacket that he pierced with badges that reference the singer’s career. He even wrote the musician’s name on a pair of his signature RayBan Caribbean sunglasses, which he tucked into his lapel pocket.

A Complete Unknown marks a dramatic shift in Chalamet’s career. Despite his origins as an indie darling and prowess as a box office runaway success, his transformation into Dylan is proof that the 29-year-old has the chops to be this generation’s definitive character actor.
Not only did Chalamet spend five years immersed in the production, but it also marked his first producer credit, too. Given the gravitas, it wasn’t surprising that Kylie Jenner joined him at the premiere after party.
The couple have been dating since early 2023 after meeting in January of that year. According to eyewitnesses at the event, the pair reportedly “holding hands” and “spent the whole night together”. Another source added that they were “pretty affectionate with each other” and that the Khy founder “sat in his lap with her arm around his shoulders and they shared a quick kiss.”
