We love getting a glimpse into some of our fav stars’ swanky pads and Architectural Digest’s “Open Door” house tours, are a personal guilty pleasure. Seeing what design style they fall under, getting a peak inside the luxurious closets, seeing their personal family heirlooms and a personal fav—taking in the impressive art collections and the iconic pieces of furniture that fill these spaces. This week AD, took us on a tour of rockstar/model duo Adam and Behati Prinsloo Levine’s, L.A. casual-cool home. Designed in conjunction with mother-and-son design duo, Clements Design, the result is a super cozy, one level, tastefully—for lack of better words—cool AF space. I mean the taste is there! From an Albert Oehlen drawing in the dinning room, to a Raymond Pettibon painting, the beautiful Jean Prouvé Visiteur chairs, to the sleek Charlotte Perriand desk in the office—It’s both meticulously curated but incredibly laid back.
Let’s get into some of the standout works of art and decorative gems on display in the couples’ cozy, L.A. home.
Henry Taylor painting in the den
Henry Taylor—considered one of the great contemporary figurative painters of our time—is known for his expressive paintings, in which he perfectly captures his subject’s nuances and mood with intricate gestural detail. His bold, fluid, figurative work, has long often been the focus of many fashion collaborations: from a collaboration with Louis Vuittion, for their limited edition Art Y Capucine Collection, to a capsule collection with Paris based brand Études—all featuring his paintings.

Couldn’t track down the specific piece as seen on display in the Levine house, but it’s from a newer body of Prince work similar to this one:
Richard Prince is a cultural disrupter. Much in the wheelhouse of Warhol, he’s a multi-media artist that delves into pop culture. Often known as a pioneer of Appropriation Art, his works mixes photography, typography, painting and re-purposed photographs and materials. The majority of his works includes scandalous subject matter and has provoked controversy around issues of copyright in the art world. So it’s no surprise why Marc Jacobs decided to partner with Prince to disrupt the design ethos of Louis Vuitton.

Remember this infamous bag? The very divisive bag, Carrie Bradshaw gave her assistant Louise (Jennifer Hudson) from Saint Louis? Yep, it was a part of Richard’s collaboration with then creative director, Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuittion.

Rashid Johnson is an emerging multi-media star in the art world, who explores themes referencing collective aspects of African American intellectual history and cultural identity through a plethora of mediums—charcoal, shea butter, record covers, rocks, black soap and tropical plants. LIZWORKS—a firm that collaborates with celebrated contemporary artists to create limited-edition pieces— partnered with Johnson Last year to produce a collection of jewelry inspired by Johnson’s “ANXIOUS MEN” series.

Rick Owens Daybed
Rick Owens is the master of moody-goth minimalism, with a lifestyle brand that extends far beyond just shoes and clothes. Rick Owens artisanal, bespoke furniture is an extension of the brand ethos. The furniture often takes on a brutalist aesthetic in natural materials—wood, stone, alabaster with a surrealist take. There’s even a Rick Owens wax figure chair at the brand’s Milan location.
Fernando & Humberto Campana, “Bolotas Armchair”
The Brazilian furniture firm, The Campana Brothers, are known for breaking the fourth wall and pushing the limits of furniture as art. They often combine everyday objects in unexpected ways—materials like rope, cardboard, plastic tubing, and aluminum wire—to create conceptual pieces of furniture, that blur the lines between furniture and art. In 2003 they partnered with Swarovski to construct an artisanal chandelier.
