The 5th annual AAFCA TV Honors awards ceremony was held on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica, CA. The event, which recognizes outstanding work in the television industry, was hosted by AAFCA President and Co-Founder Gil Robertson.
Notable Winners:
Abbott Elementary was the big winner of the 2023 AAFCA TV Honors, taking home the awards for Best TV Comedy and Best TV Writing for star Quinta Brunson. The show, which follows a group of teachers at an underfunded public school in Philadelphia, has been praised for its humor, heart, and positive representation of Black teachers.
P-Valley was another big winner, taking home the awards for Best TV Drama, Best Ensemble, and Best TV Acting (Male) for J. Alphonse Nicholson and Nicco Annan. The show, which follows the lives of the dancers at a strip club in the Mississippi Delta, has been praised for its raw and unflinching portrayal of sex work.
