Yellowstone fans are in for a sartorial treat. For those who have followed the dramatic Paramount+ Western series’ prequels, like 1883 and 1923, period piece costumes from the franchise are making their way to New York City.

The Paley Center for Media is known for celebrating some of the most beloved and iconic television programs and now, it opened an immersive costume exhibition showcasing ensembles from 1923, starring Helen Mirren, Harrison Ford, Brandon Sklenar, Julia Schleapher and Michelle Randolph.

Displaying the craftsmanship and artistry of Emmy Award-winning costume designer Janie Bryant, the costume retrospective entitled, The “1923” Exhibit: Costume Design Across Three Continents, will transport you back to the early 1900s and will be on display until May 28.

Highlighting the historical accuracy and rich details, 1923’s original costumes illustrate the Dutton family’s origin story, through travels to the African Savannas, the shores of Italy and the ranches of Montana. Over 1,000 costumes are included in the curated array.

“I feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to design this epic show and I’m honored that The Paley Museum invited me to display my art for the fans to see up close,” Bryant said in an official statement. “The characters and story created by Taylor Sheridan, the talent of this amazing cast, and the breathtaking beauty of the locations — from Montana to South Africa — have all been so inspirational. It has truly been an exhilarating experience to be a part of the beauty, strength, and depth of this story.”

Bryant is known for transforming stars like Jon Hamm into Don Draper and Christina Hendricks into Joan Harris in the acclaimed AMC series Mad Men. She’s responsible for Al Swearengen’s pinstripe suit in HBO’s Deadwood, Bill Skarsgård’s terrifying costume as Pennywise the Clown in the 2017 remake of It and Elsa Dutton’s blue traveling dress in 1883.

“We are thrilled to present The “1923” Exhibit: Costume Design Across Three Continents, transporting visitors to the captivating world of the Dutton family, and showcasing the exceptional talent of Emmy Award–winning costume designer Janie Bryant,” said Maureen J. Reidy, President and CEO of The Paley Center for Media. “We thank Paramount+ for this collaboration and their support in bringing this experience to life, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to The Paley Museum to this remarkably unique exhibition.”

Western-themed arts and crafts will be available for children and families to enjoy, as well as a souvenir photo opt, featuring a backdrop of the Dutton family ranch and props to hold.

Bryant will participate in a panel discussion moderated by television personality Carson Kressley on April 29 at 3:30 p.m. to chat about the creative process that goes into each costume.
