Beauty Details from the Chanel Haute Couture Runway Show in
Paris
A lesson in timeless French girl beauty
For the second time in a row, Virginie Viard swapped the usual
Grand Palais for equestrian school Étrier de Paris to show its
Haute Couture FW22/23 collection.
Slouchy shapes, ornate details and saturated pops of color were
tempered with a quintessentials Chanel beauty look: clean matte
skin, a softly-pinched pink blush, nude lips and a smudgy black
liner around the eyes.

Unlike previous collections that featured bold details like
heavy wings or watermelon-hued lips, FW22/23 was simple, soft, and
very French.
Makeup was led by Lisa Butler, and felt like a rough-up version of the
FW22/23 Ready to Wear look
presented just a few months earlier: skin was raw but polished,
lashed were curled and coated with inky black mascara, a soft black
liner was smudged around the upper and lower lash lines, while
cheeks and lips were kept all but bare.

Hairstylist James Pecis crafted the perfect soft
airy wave to compliment the makeup. Fluffy and ever-so-slightly
frizzy, it was natural, youthful and beautifully low key against
Viard’s designs. Hats and big black bows acted as a finishing touch
for some looks — two enduring Chanel beauty emblems that feel just
as relevant today as they did 100 years ago.
