Over the weekend, Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid attended a soirée at the Boom Boom Room in New York City for IMG Vice President Luiz Mattos’ 50th birthday. We expected nothing less than a chic affair with the model manager opting for a decadent masquerade ball at the cult Standard Hotel. No face masks in sight. Instead, the supermodel sisters put a modern twist on the period-style event where corsets, feathers and lace were still aplenty.
Gigi opted for a more traditional ensemble and stepped out in Manhattan wearing a vibrant colorblock gown by next-gen couturier, Miss Sohee. Pulled direct from the Autumn/Winter 2022 runway it featured a pink corset-style bodice and an iridescent column skirt in a fiery red hue with a silver baroque pattern embellished to the hem in sequins. The gown was paired with white opera gloves, champagne satin pumps and a lace mask.
The evening was largely documented by the model’s makeup artist Patrick Ta, who took to social media to reveal an intricate makeup look behind the mask. Featuring a perfect red lip and a peachy base, Ta emblazoned tiny pink and silver diamantés to the inner corner of the eye for a look that meets Bridgerton with Euphoria.
It should come as no surprise that Bella fused Y2K style codes with her ensemble. She combined a white strapless corset splattered with gray paint with a midi skirt and a lacy black bra just peaking through at the neckline. A piece of lace fabric was tied to her arm while she was photographed at times in a black lace mask. The 25-year-old wore an up-do with a blunt cropped fringe and a smoky eye. Beau Marc Kalman was also in attendance.
The guest list also featured Yolanda Hadid and Bebe Rexha as well as fellow models Taylor Hill and Megan Roche who joined the sisters for a birthday speech in homage of Mattos.
