Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Officially Reunite with the Royal Family
It marks the couple's official reunion with Prince William and Kate Middleton since their move to the US
It’s the photos people have been waiting years for: the reunion of Prince William and his younger brother Prince Harry, along with their wives, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.
After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their shock exit from both the UK and their positions as senior working members of the royal family in early 2020, reports of a rift between the California-located couple and the rest of the royals have been a constant in the news headlines. (The family drama wasn’t helped by the distance enforced by the pandemic, which halted all international travel, nor that tell-all Oprah interview).
But finally, the family has reunited in the UK to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, marking her unprecedented 70 years on the throne. For the occasion, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made their first trip back to the country with their two children in tow, 3-year-old Archie Harrison and his little sister, Lilibet Diana, who turns 1 on Saturday.
Though the first royal event took place yesterday for Trooping the Colour, during which the royals watch planes fly overhead from a balcony (Prince Louis’ expressions were hilariously cute), it was announced ahead of time that only senior working members of the family would be invited to stand alongside the Queen. On Friday morning, however, the couple were finally invited alongside the rest of the royal family, to attend the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral in London, marking the first time they’ve attended an official royal event in over two years — and the first time the public has seen the former foursome interact since everything went down.
For the highly publicized event, Markle opted for a Dior Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2022 classic and chic white trench coat, organza shirt and skirt, which she wore with a matching white wide-brimmed Dior hat designed by Stephen Jones, Dior gloves and pumps.
Markle wore her hair pulled back off her face and kept her beauty look fresh and minimal.
Kate Middleton and Prince William arrived together with the Duchess of Cambridge wearing a pale yellow dress by one of her go-to designers, Emilia Wickstead, and a matching hat, which she wore with her hair in a bun and complimented with beige pumps.
Inside the church, early photos seem to suggest the couples are seated separately — Harry and Meghan are in the second row inside, next to Princess Eugenie and Beatrice, while William and Kate and in the first row, beside Princess Anne — which means unfortunately there are not yet any images of the foursome interacting:
Here’s hoping we get an iconic image of the reunion upon service ending.
