Overnight the UK erupted into celebration as the long weekend for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee – marking 70 years on the throne – commenced. The Royal Family gathered for the Trooping the Colour which saw a parade from Buckingham Palace to the Horse Guard Parade grounds and back again, before members of the immediate family stood on the balcony to witness the Royal Air Force flypast.

While much of the city looked to the skies for the spectacle, the internet could not help but notice (meme-ify and repost) 4-year-old Prince Louis and all of his many facial expressions. A total Monday morning mood if you ask us. The youngest child of Prince Willian and Kate Middleton was joined by Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince George, 8.

Despite Her Majesty’s appearance at the parade – which was held in honour of her 96th birthday – she will not attend the St Paul’s Cathedral Service of Thanksgiving this weekend – one of the main events of the jubilee – with a palace spokesperson citing she experienced a level of “discomfort” during her brief outing overnight.

“Taking into account the journey and activity required to participate in tomorrow’s National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty with great reluctance has concluded that she will not attend,” the palace said in a statement, via Sydney Morning Herald.

“The Queen is looking forward to participating in tonight’s Beacon lighting event at Windsor Castle and would like to thank all those who made today such a memorable occasion.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – are in the UK for the celebrations with their children Archie Harrison, 3, and Lilibet Diana, 1. They were invited by the Queen to stand at the Major General’s Office, which overlooks Whitehall, rather than the palace.

More to come.
