Zendaya’s appearance at Dune: Part 2’s world premiere in London was the definition of; “When you’ve got to devise a sartorial tour de force at 8PM but meet your boyfriend at 9PM.” As you’ve presumably seen by now, the 27-year-old actress delivered what is arguably her fashion magnum opus on the sand-ladened red carpet in Thierry Mugler’s archival fembot fantasy, the “Gynoid” suit from the late couturier’s Fall/Winter 1995 collection.
Fusing past and present in a fashion galaxy far, far away, the star later changed into a contemporary black gown designed by the house’s current creative director Casey Cadawaller. Fluid and enriched by Old-Hollywood glamour, the piece appeared to be Zendaya and her “image architect” Law Roach’s answer to cinema ware. But as we later found out, the costume change served a subsequent purpose. The latter was a romantic ensemble for a rare date night with her boyfriend, Tom Holland.
Without uttering a word to the press, the young ‘It’ couple cemented their relationship in the face of rampant speculation about the nature of their romance. By stepping out hand-in-hand after the film finished, they solidified their nearly three-year bond in a flurry of monochrome.

Zendaya and Holland have been the subject of online conjecture since going public with their relationship in July 2021. More recently, an unfollowing spree from Zendaya on social media led fans to deduce that the Spiderman co-stars had fallen victim to the franchise’s curse and called it quits. (For the uninitiated, all previous Peter Parkers including Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield had dated their on-screen love interests, leading to producers warning Zendaya and Holland against falling for one another.) Thankfully, this is one couple that managed to avoid the cursed year of break-ups that plagued Hollywood. MJ and Peter are still tangled in each other’s web.
