As we’ve seen from the prolific Barbiecore boom, fashion can play a major part in hyping up an upcoming film. So as Dakota Johnson gets ready to be initiated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the film Madame Web, it’s only natural that she should tap into her spidey sartorial senses.
Attending the 2024 Vogue Brazil Ball in Rio de Janeiro, the actress stunned with a look that paid homage to her new film; a custom version of an Annie’s Ibiza Cobweb dress that boasts a longer silhouette that trailed behind her and introduced a matching veil hood that she wore over her head.
The intricate webwork has been hand-crafted with an array of glistening crystals that catch and reflect light, resembling dewdrops on a spider’s web in the morning sun, per the website. She paired the dazzling frock with minimal black heels and diamond drop earrings. Johnson kept her makeup soft and ethereal with a rosy blush, a berry-pink lip, and greyish eye shadow. Her signature brunette hair and bangs were left loose.
Starring alongside Sydney Sweeney and Emma Roberts, Johnson plays the titular lead, a paramedic-turned-superhero named Madame Web, who begins to see the future after an accident.

Johnson isn’t the only one who has embraced eight-legged freaks in their wardrobe.
Zendaya also leaned into the spider ephemera with an Alexander McQueen ensemble covered with crystal embroidery and a thematic pair of spiderweb earrings by Jacob & Co when promoting her film Spiderman: No Way Home.
