According to “multiple sources” for People, Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have reportedly split after information was leaked to the press overnight alleging he “struck” Yolanda Hadid.
“They are not together right now. They are both good parents though,” says family friend to the Hadids. “They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild.”
“Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time,” a rep for Gigi told the outlet. Management for Malik and Yolanda have not responded to requests for a statement.
It comes after TMZ reported Malik was involved in a family dispute last week. Yolanda was reportedly preparing to file a police report (though nothing has eventuated on this as of yet).
Earlier today, Malik defended himself in a statement on Twitter and strongly denies all allegations of abuse.
“I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private.”
The couple – who have had an on-again-off-again relationship since 2015 – share 13-month-old baby, Khai. Malik and Hadid first sparked romance rumours in November 2015 before confirming their relationship in Malik’s music video “Pillow Talk” in 2016. They first broke up after nearly two years together in March 2018.
“Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and friend,” Malik wrote in a statement at the time. “She has such an incredible soul. I’m grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time; we wish this news could have come from us first. We love you all. xZ”
More to come.
