Vegan ideals don’t just relate to food anymore, as clothing company Pangaia proves.

The US-based brand owns the patent for FLWRDWN, a biodegradable down made from wildflowers that are coated in biopolymer and infused with a gel.

While polyester has long been used as the alternative choice to goose and duck down, environmental experts have warned about the impact of plastic materials.

And so the wildflowers, ethically harvested and not farmed, seem like the obvious choice for all future winter coat endeavours.

Pangaia currently has two coat styles in production – one long and one short – but we have a feeling this is only the beginning, and the company will bring new meaning to the term flower power.
