Emirati women are constantly proving that the sky is the limit, and Her Highness Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Al Maktoum is no exception. A force to be reckoned with, she’s a true pioneer in Dubai’s world of art and culture in Dubai, and – like the rest of the UAE royal family – is an inspiration to us all.

Who is HH Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum?

HH Sheikha Latifa, daughter of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai and Vice President of the UAE, has an array of achievements under her belt. The Sheikha graduated from Zayed University with an Executive Master of Business Administration with Honors and a Bachelor of Business Science in Marketing. With her father as an example, the Sheikha is passionate about equestrianism and poetry. She’s also been a part of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority since 2008, holding many positions within it. In 2016, The Sheikha married Sheikh Faisal Bin Saud Bin Khalid Al Qasimi and together they have two sons and two daughters.

Sheikha Latifa’s amazing Achievements

On September 5th 2019, the Sheikha became the Chairperson of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority and works to support cultural activities that help develop Dubai’s cultural and creative sector. Some of these activities include Dubai Design Week and the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. Sheikha Latifa unveiled a six-year strategic plan and her goals of transforming Dubai into a vibrant talent hub, a global cultural centre and incubator for local creativity. The “Dubai Creative Economy Strategy” aims to foster the expansion of the region’s cultural and creative industries. Moreover, the Sheikha holds an impressive list of positions such as being a member of the Dubai Council, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Literature Foundation and Chairperson of development of Al Quoz Creative Zone Committee.

She also works to provide various forms of support to the literature sector and to boost the culture of reading. Her aim is to make reading – and obtaining knowledge from it – available to everyone in Dubai. The Sheikha was awarded the “First Arab Lady” award from the Arab Women’s Authority in 2021 in acknowledgment of her pioneering work in Dubai’s cultural and creative sector.
