Congratulations are in order to the newlywed royal couple. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II and Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa Al-Saif have officially tied the knot, in a grandeur traditional Jordanian ceremony. The royal pair said “I Do” in the Palace’s garden at Zahran Palace in an Islamic marriage ceremony known as a “katb ktab.”  The Zahran Palace has served as the venue for a number of royal weddings, including Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania’s wedding.

Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah arrived first to greet the attendees, followed by the royal couple. Rajwa Al Saif, who has been given the royal title of Princess Rajwa Al Hussein, arrived at Zahran Palace wearing a gown by Elie Saab in a 1968 Rolls-Royce Phantom V, custom-made for the late Queen Zein al-Sharaf, the Crown Prince’s great-grandmother. The bride was escorted by the Crown Prince’s younger brother, Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II and younger sister Princess Salma bint Abdullah II. The newlyweds then travelled as part of the Red Motorcade from Zahran Palace to Al Husseiniya Palace, where a wedding reception with approximately 1,700 guests was held, followed by a wedding feast attended by members of the Royal Hashemite Family, foreign and Arab heads of state, and high-ranking officials.

The ceremony had 1,700 guests in attendance, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, the First Lady of the United States Dr. Jill Biden, famed Lebanese musician Ragheb Alama, and many others. Kate and William’s presence at the royal wedding demonstrates the long-standing friendship between the British and Jordanian royal families. Princess Kate attended the wedding in a light pink maxi gown with long sleeves and floral embroidery by Elie Saab.

Prior to attending the event President Joe Biden along with Jill Biden, wished the newlyweds, a “future full of love, laughter and good health,” on the US embassy’s official Twitter page.
