We’ve just entered the second half of 2024 with a multitude of holidays already behind us, but that hasn’t stopped us from looking forward to the upcoming public holidays in the UAE for the rest of the year.
Last year with the direction of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE Cabinet highlighted a list of public holidays that fall under the Islamic Calendar.
While we’re fresh from celebrating Hijri New Year, we have more holidays to take note of and plan ahead.
When is the next public holiday in the UAE?

In line with planning ahead, GRAZIA brings a breakdown of holidays and dates to save for the remainder of the year.
Prophet Mohammed’s birthday
The next public holiday, also known as Prophet Mohammed’s birthday falls on the 12th day of the Islamic lunar month of Rabi’ al-awwal. In accordance with the Islamic Calendar and the sighting of the moon, the projected date is September 14, 2024.
Commemoration Day
Commemoration Day, previously known as Martyrs’ Day, is a significant holiday meant to remember and recognise the Emirati soldiers who have dedicated their lives in service to the country. This year it falls on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
UAE National Day
Marking the 53rd UAE National Day since its inception in 1971, it will be held on December 2 and 3, 2024, meaning the UAE, in both public and private sectors will enjoy a four-day break.
