If you’re considering selling a designer handbag or want to know how much your beloved 2.55 is really worth, you’re in luck.

Rebag’s new software tool, Clair, can evaluate the cost of practically any designer bag on the planet, and the even better news? It can do it in seconds.

The company has spent years analyzing the luxury handbag market and collating data to create the “Clair Code”, a universal coding system that determines the brand, model and size of a bag.

Users must fill in some details including colour and what kind of condition the bag is in (using the app’s grading guidelines) and Rebag will then appraise your bag and reveal how much they would pay for it.

Rebag lists Bottega Veneta, Fendi, Valentino and Prada as “High Risk” brands, and says Chloe, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Celine and Dior are “Low Risk” labels.

Unsurprisingly, brands like Chanel, Gucci and Louis Vuitton are a great investment, however, if you want to aim high, Hermes is the best brand to possess, or as Rebag likes to say, the “Unicorn” of resell value.

However, the app also has plans to track prices in real time, much like a stock exchange, and if something starts trending on Instagram or a celebrity suddenly declare their love for a certain style, prices will change to reflect that.

So while you may never want to sell your beloved accessories, it’s nice to know that if a Kardashian or Kate Middleton steps out wearing a bag you own, you can contemplate making a few quid off it.

It’s like shopping meets the stock exchange, only better, and we’re sold.
