From her love of business class throughout her education to her entrepreneurial endeavours in the UAE’s oil and petroleum industry. Trupti always had a strong aptitude for business, and now funnels her extensive skill-set into directing Royal Spirits at every operational level.

Elevated in every aspect, Royal Spirit is a first of its kind luxury beverage store, that recently launched in Abu Dhabi. Offering over 1000 wine labels and 700 liquor brands, this store fills an untapped market in the region. Refined in curation and interior, Royal Spirit is the ultimate sophisticated beverage experience.

My current role is…

TM: I’m the Co-founder and Managing Director of Royal Spirit, a luxury beverage store in Abu Dhabi. Royal Spirit embodies my lifelong dream of launching an experience-led luxury beverage outlet with extensive and tastefully curated selections. I manage the company’s entire operations, from finance and marketing to recruitment.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

TM: Growing up in a quaint little town in India, I always felt I was destined for great things, especially in entrepreneurship. At the same time, I was a firm believer in writing my own destiny that is rooted in real-world possibilities. Those seeds of entrepreneurship, sown when I was younger, have since grown and assumed a mature form in the UAE.

My favourite subject at school was…

TM: Business studies.

My first job was…

TM: My first job in Dubai was at a stock brokering company, where I honed my financial skills significantly. Those learnings paved the way to my own, small stock-market business. It’s a shining example of my entrepreneurial zeal — an innate disposition to turn learnings into business opportunities.

My career path so far has been…

TM: The foray into the stock market opened up a pipeline of new possibilities, especially in sectors like oil and petroleum, where women were underrepresented. Sensing a timely business opportunity, I founded D1 Global, an oil and petroleum company. Under my tutelage, D1 Global’s portfolio has grown to over 100 projects and 20 products in less than five years. I take immense pride in having positioned it as a reliable partner in the petroleum and specialties market in the UAE. I subsequently channelled the same entrepreneurial spirit to fulfil my age-old desire to launch a concept beverage outlet, leading to Royal Spirit.

The role the UAE has played in my career is…

TM: Behind every entrepreneurial success story is an entrepreneur who effectively harnessed the conditions facilitated by the government. I founded my ventures on the bedrock of UAE’s business-friendly policies. That is to say, the UAE’s role in my career has been profound and indispensable.

The story of Royal Spirit is…

TM: Royal Child is my brainchild, in that it is a product of my “experience-first” business philosophy. Providing customers with differentiated experiences has been an overarching strategy in all my ventures thus far. In Royal Spirit, that differentiation is characterised by a premium lounge-like store experience, bespoke offerings for Michelin-starred hotels, a private division for connoisseurs, and boutique tastings — something special for everyone. Therefore, Royal Spirit is unlike any other in the UAE.

I was inspired to enter into the luxury beverage space because…

TM: I was always drawn to the intricacies of brewing. Crafting high-quality beverages is part science, part art. So, I set out to educate myself about the distillation process, culminating in the vision to launch my own store of curated selections. The need to differentiate Royal Spirit from a typical beverage store led to the creation of a first-of-its-kind luxury experience that gives attention to small, important details.

My daily routine consists of…

TM: My typical day starts with a visit to the gym, followed by some meditation. After performing domestic duties, especially concerning my two kids, I head to the office, where it is not uncommon for me to run into seemingly endless meetings, calls, and brainstorming sessions. I can’t wait to get back home in the evenings and spend some quality time with my family.

My role as Founder entails…

TM: My role as a founder is fluid, entailing a hands-on involvement in all organisational functions. I prefer that over a top-down approach, because I like working with people across departments, getting to know them, and inspiring productivity through a participatory culture.

The biggest hurdle I have experienced in my career…

TM: If my entrepreneurial track record is any indication, I have chosen traditionally male-dominated sectors like oil and petroleum and beverage retailing. So, my entrepreneurial journey hasn’t been without systemic challenges. With Royal Spirit, due to its niche, I encountered unique roadblocks due to a lack of existing precedents and prior cases to follow. So, the procurement of various licenses and compliance with multiple regulations were laborious.

The biggest milestone I have achieved is…

TM: Building a diverse portfolio of businesses is my biggest career milestone. That said, I believe the best is yet to come.

What I hope for 2023 is…

TM: The journey so far in 2023 has been one of cautious optimism, sheer hard work, and immense learning. The stage is set for Royal Spirit to deliver on its promises and unique value propositions. I look forward to it eagerly. I’m particularly excited about the launch of the Royal Spirit app, which will give customers easy access to the online store, enabling them to get beverages delivered to their doorstep with a click. Additionally, we are launching our inaugural offers, such as special party packs and prices, to delight our customers and help them host gatherings conveniently and cost-effectively. The bundles and associated offers will be in effect till the New Year to end 2023 on a high note.
