The official trailer for Pablo Lorraín’s Princess Diana biopic, Spencer, has officially arrived – and along with it, a striking selection of Diana-inspired wardrobe.
The upcoming movie follows Diana as she spends the Christmas holiday with the royal family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk and decides to leave her marriage to Prince Charles. The movie will set on the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, marking her tragic accident back in 1997. Spencer will pay tribute to the icon and follows a star-studded cast of Jack Farthing, Timothy Spall, Sean Harris and many more.
Princess Diana has been one of the royal family’s biggest style icons, leading many celebrities and influencers to recreate her looks to date. We have seen a few fashion details revealed from the Spencer trailer, and by the looks of it, we can except a walk down Chanel’s archives for the up and coming film
The film’s first poster featured lead actress Steward wearing a gown from Chanel’s spring-summer 1988 Haute Couture collection. The gown came in a beige tone featuring embellishments of gold and silver and leaf-shaped sequins forming floral branches all over.
The second look featured Kristen wearing a black blouse, red tweed coat from Chanel’s autumn/winter 1988/89 Ready-to-Wear collection, accessorised with a veiled hat. Inspired by the princess’s outfit in 1993 on Christmas Day at Sandringham Estate, the year she separated from Prince Charles.
The third look was a custom suit recreating one of Diana’s real-life fashion moments. We saw Steward in a butter yellow ensemble (allegedly Diana’s favourite hue) paired with a matching hat.
The next glimpse was a red and green checkered blazer over a creamy white turtle neck, pearl earrings and a sapphire engagement ring, inspired by Diana’s suit during her Portsmouth visit in 1989.
