Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi, Mother of the Nation, is never a bystander when there are people in need.

Taking part in the  “UAE stands with Lebanon” campaign for a second time, the UAE royal sent two aircraft containing over 80 tonnes of necessities for the women of Lebanon.

The campaign which is directed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has been making waves with communities across the emirates. Whether private, public, or individual, the UAE has been committed to providing support as much as necessary to aid the victims of the conflict — and the woman leading this charge is Sheikha Fatima with her generosity.

Marking this notable donation during the ongoing crises, Sheikh Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development, stated on the Sheikha’s official media website, that Sheikha Fatima’s commitment to Arab women during challenging times continues to be profoundly persevering.

This initiative which started on October 8, 2024, has already shown significant interest from the UAE residents. In the first week of the campaign, it had raised over 400 tonnes of relief aid, encompassing basic necessities, food and others.

Who is Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi?

Sheikha Fatima was born in 1943 in Al Ain. She married Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan in 1960. Eleven years later, in 1971, the United Arab Emirates was formed with the unification of the seven emirates, and her husband Sheikh Zayed was the inaugural president of the UAE, making him known as the “Father of the UAE” and, in turn, Sheikha Fatima the “Mother of the UAE”.

Taking on a leading female role in the UAE, Sheikha Fatima has gone on to be an advocate for women’s education and rights over the last four decades.

She founded the UAE’s first organisation devoted to advancing women’s equality and advancement in 1975, leading the nation’s women’s movement. Sheikha Fatima has been the chair of the General Women’s Union (GWU) since its founding when several new women’s organisations joined together under her direction and encouragement.
