Saudi Arabia has been working relentlessly for bringing awe-inspiring collaborations to the country in various fields. With the recent entry of Cristiano Ronaldo into the AlNassr club, the Red Sea Film International Film Festival, and Saudi 100 Brands initiative, it is not a surprise that the Kingdom is transforming into one of the cultural centres of the world. One of the most coveted racing events, The 2023 Saudi Cup is returning for its fourth edition on the 24th and 25th of February at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh. Celebrating Saudi Arabia’s culture and racing, the event boasts the world’s most valuable horse race, with a total prize money across the two-day meeting of $35.35 million making it the highest fixture in global horse racing. The top-tier racing tournament is organised by the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia and has attracted over 1,400 entries from 22 countries.

The competition will consist of 16 races, and the finale for the Saudi Cup will be held on 25th February at 8:35 pm followed by the closing ceremony headlined by DJ Bedouin. The 2023 Saudi Cup has attracted over 1,400 entries, with horses from 22 countries looking to participate. Other artists include the dance crew the Mayyas, finalists from Saudi Idol performing old and modern Saudi music, and an exquisite orchestral performance with a modern symphony. The Ministry of Culture Booth will bring the region’s most prominent heritage, arts, initiatives, activities, and cultural programs to add more colour to the event. 

It’s not only horses, the venue is embellished with gastronomic experiences for the spectators with a vast number of restaurants and food trucks to feast from during the event. Saudi Chef Rakan Aloraifi takes diners on a visual journey with food inspired by various regions of the Kingdom. The Traditional Saudi Dining Experience is a partnership with one of the most renowned Saudi restaurants where diners can sample authentic Saudi dishes. In collaboration with the renowned Japanese restaurant Roka, guests can also sample the most delectable international dishes. Finally, the cultural kitchen presents people with the tastiest pastries and light meals from elements of Saudi cuisine with Chef Mona Moussalli.

Hyped as bigger and better than before, this Saudi Cup brings other new adventurous initiatives over the two days. The organisers have created an abundant experience of Saudi culture for the guests’ enlightenment. 

For art lovers, artist Sara Shakeel’s Oasis gallery showcases the earth in a new light through the glittering oasis, glowing dunes and a picturesque undulating desert landscape. Areas are designated for photography to document the event in unique settings, and for children where the outdoor playing area combines traditional and modern games for various leisure activities. Saudi House brings an interactive experience to educate more on Najdi architecture of designing houses, and their divisions. Saudi Fashion Exhibition will display unique pieces and designs that reflect the culture of Saudi Arabia. For insights into Saudi’s diverse fauna and flora, Saudi Nature takes the audience on an audio-visual journey along the Kingdom’s topography. While Culture Corridor takes the racegoers on a spectacular journey reflecting the cultural diversity and richness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
