It’s said that the way we smell can have a subconscious impact on how appealing we are to others. Part of this comes down to chemistry (as in, pheromone markers of our genetic compatibility with a partner), but it would be remiss to say that perfumes have nothing to do with it.

This saccharine scent has just landed in stores at Mecca, and the timing is pretty close to perfect. Spiked with notes of juicy grape, sweet rose and sun-warmed blackcurrant, it’s a light, sparkling fragrance that encapsulates the buzzing anticipation of a first date.

Vanilla has long been categorised as a basic or juvenile olfactive note, but thanks to TikTok, gourmand scents are back. Vanilla Milk is a new drop from Ellis Brooklyn, and it has the warmth of true vanilla, but none of the syrupy sweetness.
