The Met Gala red carpet has reportedly ended, and Rihanna was still nowhere to be seen. Riri, who has never failed to shut down a red carpet, especially on fashion’s biggest night, was one of the most anticipated guests of the night. Fans and media alike were waiting to see what the Barbadian artist would wear to this year’s Met Gala, which is in homage to Karl Lagerfeld.
Just yesterday, Rihanna took to Instagram to post the biggest tease of the century: a carousel of images where she was dressed in an iconic black and white vintage Chanel look from 1994.
It’s no coincidence that she also chose to caption the post, “not even monday.” Just when we were about to lose hope, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky finally walked hand-in-hand to the Met Gala. They were first spotted leaving their hotel to the Met Gala, where Rihanna appeared dressed in a vimtage Fendi fur coat design by none other than Karl Lagerfeld himself from 1997, whilst A$AP Rocky dressed in Gucci, a look inspired by one that Karl himself wore
A few moments later, the couple made it to the red carpet revealing their jaw-dropping looks, with Rihanna dressed in a parachute-style white ball gown with camelias – Chanel’s signature flowers – stitched around the entire top half, by Maison Valentino. When asked what she was wearing and how she was feeling by a reporter at the event, she replied, “It’s Valentino baby. Good good, expensive!”
Let’s just say it was worth the wait.
