Fenty Hair

As a beauty editor, I feel confident in saying that a wildly large proportion of makeup-lovers have fallen in love with Fenty Beauty. Founded in September 2017, Rihanna’s beauty empire has expanded even well beyond being one of the first-ever wholly inclusive foundation shade ranges. Now, the brand is a one-stop-shop for a full face of cosmetics and, most recently, skincare. The 33-year-old unveiled Fenty Skin in July 2020: an earth-conscious regimen ideal for all skin types and skin tones.

In her seemingly passionate quest to take over our beauty regimen entirely, the singer’s company, Roraj Trade LLC, filed a trademark for “Fenty Hair” on March 3, 2021. Per the legal document, the line—if brought to fruition—could include everything from haircare preparation products and non-medicated dandruff shampoo to glitter and hair color. At the time of publication, Rihanna has yet to release a statement confirming that the new range is in the works.

Unsurprisingly, loyal fans of Rihanna’s beauty empire are ready for the line to drop, like, yesterday. “Fenty Hair is coming!!!! Rihanna is taking over the world,” a fan tweeted in response to the news. Another wrote, “Just when I thought I was doing good not buying so many products, Rihanna trademarks Fenty Hair.” Still, some would prefer new music to a new beauty range, and they’re actively expressing their discontent about it on Twitter.

As much as this news has impacted the internet, it’s important to note that the line might still be years in the making. In the past, it’s taken about a year for her brands to launch to the public. Rihanna filed a trademark for Fenty Skin in March 2019 and announced a partnership with LVMH for her makeup collection in April 2016. Both equate out to almost a year and a half exactly. If that’s the case for Fenty Hair, then we have some time before we can cop the hitmaker’s entire beauty routine.
