You didn’t think being in her third trimester of pregnancy would stop Rihanna going to the after-party of the year, did you?
Following the very eventful Academy Awards (here’s looking at you, Will Smith), the 34-year-old Fenty founder wasn’t seen anywhere on the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party red carpet, but not because she stayed home. What could be bigger and better than the annual star-studded post-Oscars party, you ask? Only Beyonce and Jay-Z’s exclusive equivalent, of course.
Given Rihanna’s style during her entire pregnancy, she was never going to go understated for the night. Photographed stepping out of her car to make her way inside, Rihanna was shown wearing a sheer black top, accentuating her growing baby bump, matched with a black sequin floor-length skirt, not too dissimilar from equally stylish queen Zendaya’s Valentino silver skirt worn on the red carpet just hours earlier.
Rihanna wore mermaid-length hair extensions for the evening and matched her sparkly skirt with black sparkling gloves. On her feet, she wore a pair of patent pumps. Her boyfriend/maybe fiancé A$AP Rocky wasn’t pictured, but given how inseparable these two love birds have been of late, it wouldn’t be surprising if he was waiting at the door to let his glowing girl inside.
Last month, Rih opened up to Refinery29 about how she is (very successfully) trying to redefine what maternity style looks like. “Right now I’m really into pushing the idea of sexy,” she said. “When women get pregnant, society tends to make it feel like you hide, hide your sexy, and that you’re not sexy right now [but] you’ll get back there and I don’t believe in that shit. So I’m trying stuff that I might not have even had the confidence to try before I was pregnant. The strappiest, the thinnest, and the more cut-outs the better for me.”
Now all we need is a pregnant Rihanna in the Miu Miu micro skirt and 2022 will be complete.
