Wearing Gap to the Oscars is blaspheme, correct? But women in their 30s and above will remember a time when Sharon Stone did just that, draping herself in a Gap white collared shirt, an aubergine Vera Wang skirt and then-husband Phil Bronstein. The year was 1998 and such a teaming was high-low fashion at its peak.
Today, Zendaya and her stylist Law Roach made a strong case for not only the best dressed Oscars outfit, but the closest resemblance to Stone’s moment back in 98. Dressed in a cropped white collared shirt (hello, this is a Miu Miu vibe, is it not?) and a long, glittering skirt – both by Valentino – Zendaya was, well, perfect. The 25-year-old added Bulgari High Jewellery earrings and a necklace with an assortment of Serpenti Viper one and two-coil slim bracelets in 18kt white gold, set with full pavé diamonds.
Zendaya stars in Dune, which is nominated for Best Picture this evening. While she only has a small role in this film (she plays Chani), she will be playing a bigger role in its sequel. “I’m ready to do a second,” Zendaya told InStyle in November. “Whenever they call, I’m here. [My Co-star] Timothée [Chalamet] is an extraordinary talent and just a lovely person – he’s become my family.”
