As Pharrell prepares to make his official debut as the Menswear Creative Director for Louis Vuitton, he offers a glimpse of what’s to come with his inaugural campaign for the fashion house. Taking to Instagram, Pharrell shared a photo of himself in front of a massive billboard in Paris featuring Rihanna, who stars in his first Louis Vuitton campaign.

The close bond between Pharrell and Rihanna predates their collaboration from years ago. In fact, Rihanna had previously announced in 2020 that she was working on her new album with Pharrell. The artist captioned his Instagram post, “LOUIS VUITTON MEN Spring-Summer 2024.” As for the campaign imagery, Rihanna showcases her iconic baby bump while dressed in an all-black jacket, whilst carrying a few iconic and colourful Louis Vuitton duffle bags on her arms and what appears to be a coffee in a to-go cup in hand. Pharrell poses before the billboard in a colour-cordinated all-black fit and reflective yellow shades.

Pharrell’s relationship with Louis Vuitton has been growing steadily over time. His first collaboration with the French luxury house was back in 2004 when he teamed up with Nigo, currently the Artistic Director of Kenzo, for a sunglasses collection. On 14 February 2023, Pharrell was announced as the new Creative Director of Louis Vuitton, succeeding the late Virgil Abloh. “I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director,” said Louis Vuitton Chairman and CEO Pietro Beccari at the time of the major announcement. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter. ”

After Abloh’s tragic death in November 2021, the fashion world spent over two years speculating who would replace him. His highly anticipated debut collection for Louis Vuitton will be unveiled on June 20 2023 at Men’s Paris Fashion Week.
