It’s no secret that when Mariah Carey takes to the stage, she commands – and she did so dripping in diamonds at the MTV Video Music Awards.
On Sunday night in New York, the global icon received her very first MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, marking a major milestone in her career. But while the award was history-making, it was the dazzling $10 million worth of diamond jewellery by Levuma that truly stole the spotlight.
For her performance, Carey was adorned in the Rosée Éternelle necklace and earrings by Lebanese jewellery house Levuma, showcasing more than 204 carats of rare diamonds. Each piece took over 600 hours to craft – a feat of artistry and innovation that cements Levuma as one of the rising names in high jewellery.
Founded by the Khalil family in Antwerp, Levuma is deeply rooted in generations of diamond expertise. The maison specialises in sourcing large white and rare fancy-coloured diamonds, creating bespoke layouts for collectors and connoisseurs.
Carey opened her performance in a silk golden robe with feather details before revealing a rhinestone-studded playsuit and knee-high boots – an ensemble that perfectly complemented her shimmering diamonds. Paired with her signature Hollywood waves and flawless makeup, the singer’s look embodied modern-day diva glamour.
It was also a homecoming of sorts. This performance marked Mariah Carey’s first appearance at the MTV Music Awards in over two decades, making her golden, diamond-encrusted return all the more significant.
The superstar is set to release her sixteenth studio album, Here for It All, on September 26, 2025 – her first in over six years. If her VMA performance is anything to go by, fans can expect a glittering new era filled with powerhouse vocals, glamorous fashion, and, of course, plenty of diamonds.
