While many fashion houses are not known for being modest clothing brands, designers have started to adopt modesty cues in their collections. The rise in trendy modest clothing can be accredited to customers’ demand for modest clothing options, whether it be for religious fulfilment or personal style. The Autumn/Winter ’22 runway shows respond to that demand and accommodate people looking for polished, everyday modest looks to quirky and maximalist modest styles. This scope ranges from Michael Kors’ take on classically modest styles to Yuhan Wangs’ revitalisation of modest dressing with playful motifs. With both ends of this spectrum accounted for, other brands like Noon by Noor accommodate people looking for the in-between. The overall range of modest styles this season shows that designers are opening their eyes to the widening market for trendy modest clothing, which is why there are so many compelling modest looks from the shows this year—here are some of our favourites.

Michael Kors

Michael Kors Autumn/Winter ’22 collection represented a calm, cool, collected take on modest fashion with styles ranging from sleek coats and boots (pictured above) to twinset pantsuits paired with fur coats. These finely tailored looks were offset by the brand’s slouchy knits and oversized scarves. The collection offered us a relaxed version of trendy modest fashion that works as staple wardrobe pieces. Michael Kors proved a strong contender for one of our favourite modest fashion designer brands.

Carolina Herrera

This New York designer is known for her modest fashion outfits, which have been worn by prominent figures like Queen Letizia of Spain, Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex and Vice President Kamala Harris during her inauguration. The “Carolina Herrera vibe” is a classic (read: classy) style that consists of blouses tucked into high waisted trousers or floor-length skirts, many of which are secured with a belt. This season is no different, as the designer has created more of her timeless, signature looks for the collection; complete with modest gowns and sharp coats. It’s an ideal inspiration for anyone looking to embody refined elegance through their modest fashion style.

Yuhan Wang

Yuhan Wang’s quirky collection this season compliments the fashion-forward modest dresser who is on the hunt for clothing that’s at the cutting edge of fashion. Yuhan Wang is a newer UK designer who looked to her cat for inspiration this season and came up with looks like the faux fur set (pictured above), emerald green floral suits and patterned maxi dresses. Cat-inspired imagery was consistently used throughout the collection on trench coats, knits and dresses. This imagery was paired with matching lace gloves and tights, pin-up hair and curled eyelash extensions on the models to create an overall classy cat lady vibe. The unique direction for this modest collection makes it a fun source of inspiration for anyone looking for playful inspiration in their trendy modest fashion.
