Welcome to Life, Styled – the new series by GRAZIA where we step inside the wardrobes of the region’s most stylish women and decode their week in outfits.

This week, we’re joined by sisters and entrepreneurs Dania and Mariam Sawedeg.

When it comes to style, the Sawedegs don’t play by the rules. As the co-founders of Kamushki, a cult-favourite jewellery brand rooted in symbolism, sentiment, and serious edge, the Libyan-born, Dubai-based duo treat fashion like a language.

Their wardrobes are a reflection of that ethos: part vintage archive, part designer treasure trove, and entirely mood-driven. One leans instinctive, the other intentional, but both are united by a love of statement accessories, family heirlooms, and of course, the signature stacks that define Kamushki.

Here, the sisters open up about their style rituals, their must-have pieces, and the legacy behind the jewellery they never leave the house without.

How would you sum up your style in three words?

DS:
I don’t necessarily have a fixed style. I love mixing and matching vintage, designer, and high street pieces. I consider myself more of a hybrid; my style really depends on my mood. However, if I had to choose, I’d say “chic” is always a word that comes to mind before I get ready.

MS:
People often ask me this question, but I really don’t have a definitive answer. I enjoy the mix of colours and anything edgy. I’m a huge vintage collector, so I love getting inspired by old gems.

What’s the one item in your wardrobe you can’t live without – and why?

DS:
Hmm, a great pair of jeans that you can wear both day and night. Currently, I’m obsessed with my Maison Margiela jeans and my Citizens of Humanity barrel pair.

MS:
A good belt. I love collecting belts, and I believe they complete every outfit.

DS & MS:
Something we never leave the house without is our jewellery. There’s always a stack of necklaces or rings from Kamushki.

Let’s talk handbags. Do you have a go-to, or do you match the bag to the mood?

DS:
It really depends on my mood. I have an obsession with Alaïa— their fishnet bag is one of my go-tos—and I also love my vintage Fendi baguette. I enjoy changing my bags based on my mood and where I’m going.

MS:
I’m always on the go, and lately, I’ve been carrying my Balenciaga vintage City bag and The Row Bindle.

Is there a piece of jewellery you wear every day? Tell us the story behind it.

DS &MS: We love stacking our own jewellery, as you can see, and we believe we embody our brand and serve as its ambassadors. Our jewellery is designed to protect you from the evil eye; in fact, they are like a talisman. We never leave the house without a piece around our necks. Additionally, we have a passion for watches—our dad is a collector, and you’ll never catch us leaving the house without one of his gifted pieces.

DS: Ayut Al Kursi pieces, it’s a protective verse from the Quran, I always have it on and also my wishbone earrings & my dad’s vintage Daytona (Rolex)

MS: I love wearing one of my latest pieces for Kamushki, which is the Celsitia pendant.

Do you have a fashion signature – something that people always associate with you?

DS & MS: It must be our jewellery, even before we founded Kamushki, people always associated us with our accessories and jewellery.

Do you think the way you dress is more instinctive or intentional?

DS: I think I dress more instinctively; it’s not about where you’re going, it’s about how you want to feel

MS: I would say more intentional. I work in the fitness industry, so it really is about where I am going, but I will never miss a chance where I could dress up.

Has your relationship with fashion changed over the years? How so?

DS & MS: We love to buy pieces that last forever, hence why we collect vintage pieces, and our style was inspired by our mother a lot, she’s an icon! So yes, it has changed. We buy pieces that last in value, which is why we also launched our jewellery brand in 2014. We believe in buying collectables.

DS: You want to use your closet as your own platform. Going back to old pieces shopping in your own wardrobe is the best feeling.

What’s one outfit or accessory that instantly makes you feel like your most confident self?

DS: A great pair of shoes / I love wearing heels, although I feel this has shifted a lot. People are more into comfort, which I am too, but a great pair of heels always makes you feel so good

MS: A statement belt. Currently I love my vintage elephant chain belt that I recently got from Love at the bus stop, my favourite vintage store in Zurich.
