Is it 2018 again? That is to say, Kim Kardashian is currently sporting a bubblegum hair colour similar to the pepto pink shade she previously had for a few months last decade. (Including during her first trip to Japan where she exclusively wore head-to-toe Yeezy season seven, even to pick up from a Tokyo McDonalds.)
Kardashian has made herself a beauty chameleon since she first eschewed her signature brunette tresses in 2009. However, the past seven days have been somewhat of a style-shifting sprint. The Skims founder piqued the interest of netizens when she stepped out in Beverly Hills with a platinum hue tied back into an unfussy low bun.
It appeared the look was timed to her appearance at the Homeboy Industries Gala, with the 43-year-old’s go-to hairstylist Chris Appleton sharing a detailed glimpse at the “ice Kimmy” look. “We wanted to keep a short root and the blonde cool and creamy,” the celebrity haircut and colourist shared on social media. “I coloured it in a couple of sessions to keep the integrity of the hair nice and juicy.”
However, less than a day later, Kardashian was already rid of the frosty aesthetic. Instead, she opted for something a little sweeter but still had a hint of edge. The cropped cut featured a grown-out root dye that faded into a grungy peony shade. To coincide with this new era, Kardashian reached for an avant-garde motorcycle-inspired ensemble from her shapewear line and French luxuriate, Balenciaga.
Specifically, a pair of Renaissance-inspired over-the-knee heeled biker boots with leather knee pads, which she paired with charcoal biker shorts and a black turtleneck. Could you imagine the power 2018 Kardashian would’ve weld if she had these boots back then?
Of course, with the 2024 Met Gala around the corner, could Kardashian be hinting at her ‘Garden Of Time’ outfit? What’s more apt for the theme ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’ than reviving a look from her own archives?
