The 2023 Golden Globes officially kicked off awards season in Hollywood on Tuesday night with the red carpet giving everything from Rihanna in custom-made Schiaparelli to a Barbie-approved Chanel look for Margot Robbie and everyone’s favourite woman of the moment Jennifer Coolidge in Dolce & Gabbana sequins. Celebrities also used the night to pay homage to Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele, who, in November, was shockingly announced to be departing the house after seven years at its helm.
Many of those who topped the night’s best-dressed lists — Salma Hayek, Michelle Williams, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Julia Garner — wore Gucci’s designs, but no one was more fawned over than Jenna Ortega, who made her Golden Globes debut in a flowing Grecian goddess-like Gucci gown.
Following the ceremony, Ortega, who was nominated for Best Actress in a TV Musical or Comedy for her role as Wednesday Addams in Wednesday, changed into a look that paid homage to her goth character, taking off her floor-length gown and into a white corset top with black mesh piping and a white collar.
Ortega added a suit jacket over the top, wore black trousers on the bottom and her freshly coloured and chopped shoulder-length wolf-cut hair loose.
Though she didn’t take home an award on the night, according to Cosmopolitan, actors were forming lines to meet the young star, who is tipped to be the industry’s next big thing. At the event, the 20-year-old was photographed speaking to everyone from Best Actress nominee Selena Gomez to Anya Taylor-Joy to Margot Robbie.
