Lujane Yacoub is here to make a statement on a global scale.
She stole the show as she walked down the Miss Universe Bahrain 2023 platform in September, emerging victorious and took home the title of the current winner. Lujane is now competing against 84 other countries for the title of Miss Universe 2023 in San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador.
Here to change the narrative about the Middle East, Lujane recently partook in the swimwear category, where she really made a groundbreaking statement.

During the swimwear competition, Lujane impressed the audience by letting her colourful personality exhibit with ease. In addition to captivating the judges, her performance set off a social media frenzy, with devoted followers eagerly awaiting more from the beauty winner.
Making modesy central to her entrance in the swimwear category, Lujane made a memorable arrival wearing a full-length purple swimsuit, a kaftan burkini, with cuff sleeves and a chic collar. She moved across the stage wearing an organza cape that flowed effortlessly. Lujaine had delicate, airy curls in her hair and she accessorised the ensemble with sophisticated silver hoops earrings and heels.
Lujane also elegantly took to the stage for the evening gown round of the competition, where she stood out in the round thanks to her unique style and exuded confidence from her walk. She looked magnificent in an icy-blue, figure-hugging gown with a spectacular V-neckline and a bejewelled, sequined neckpiece. The gown’s opulence was enhanced by the copious amounts of white, silver and ultramarine blue crystals that were used to embellish it.
Bahrain’s stunning island scenery served as the inspiration for Filipino designer Carla Fuentes‘ evening gown for Lujane. The garment captures the spirit of nature’s beauty and effortlessly combines it with Lujane Yacoub’s grace and style, symbolizing the freshwater springs and seas that surround the nation.
Who is Lujane Yacoub?
Born to a Bahraini father and an American mother, she competed against six other contenders at the age of 19 and was the youngest competitor during the finale. She was eventually crowned the official Miss Universe Bahrain 2023.
According to Miss Universe Bahrain, she dazzled the judges with her “beauty, authentic communication skills and a passionate heart towards her advocacies.”
Lujane started Project Hero and is an avid cosplayer. Consequently, it introduces children in special needs schools and hospital patients undergoing treatment to the concept of fancy dress as various characters. She has a learning disability, so based on a recent Instagram live, her advocacy is about giving kids the tools they need to express themselves artistically. Lujane also conducts interviews with Bahraini individuals who are spreading awareness for worthwhile topics.
