In 1937, Hermès unveiled their first scarf, handwoven from Chinese silk with a screen-printed pattern conceived by Rober Dumas, raising the standard for design and visual appeal of opulent scarves.  Colouring the sky with these majestic silks, Hermès Kite Festival Dubai intends to paint the city’s skies from 10th to 12th February at Sunset Beach View, Jumeirah 3. The free-entry celebrations will start at noon and last until 8 pm.

For the festival, the scarves will be made from technical fabrics to transform into kites, designed by its pilots to fly them across the horizon. The scarves “Sur mon nuage,” “Robe légère,” and “Plumets et Panaches” will weave fresh narratives as they float through the air.

The kite workshop at the festival will equip the attendees to make kites from technical fabric printed with scarf designs through individual or group learning. The Hermès team has brought on experts to guide everyone to aim their kite for the heavens, defying altitude and wind alike. The event will also have skilled kite flyers manoeuvring magnificent kites to execute avant-garde aerial displays. And when night falls, music will reverberate across the open-air beach, creating a soft twilight ambience.
