When it comes to beauty trends on TikTok, the limit does not exist. We’ve seen lubricant highlighter, reverse cat eyes, ‘instant facelift’ concealer… you name it, and it probably exists on the For You Page.

The latest is freezing your Beauty Blender — as in your makeup sponge — for a flawless base. A video (seen below) by Briana Pelaez and stitched from gwmakeup has gone viral. With 3.4 million views and counting, the clip shows her wetting the sponge before placing it in the freezer, where the water causes the usually soft tool to harden. Pelaez then uses it to blend her foundation, stating that it’s cold (obviously) and that the product seems to apply much smoother.

There’s not really any science to back up skin benefits, but much like the recent skin icing trend, the cooler temperature can reduce the look of pores, evening out the entire skin surface. The cooling effect also feels nice, so there’s that element as well.

Some TikToker’s also noted that as the blender melted when coming into contact with warm skin, the water was pushed into the skin providing extra hydration, giving it a dewy, ultra luminous finish. The only caveat here would be if you were using an oil-based foundation, where the excess water might cause it to separate. But ultimately it’s an easy (and free) hack you can ty at home — and incorporate it into your routine permanently if you’re obsessed with the results.
