PSA: Working towards a cleaner and healthier planet isn’t as complicated as you think. We don’t have to adopt an all-or-nothing kind kind of approach, but with a few adjustments here and there, you can do your part in building a cleaner and healthier beauty routine that will only do you good.

It can feel overwhelming at first, but with each of us taking these small steps, we can save the planet and truly make a difference together.

Here are four easy steps to get you started:

1. Start looking for refillable bottles

Brands are starting to make a change in the beauty industry with a heavy focus on decreasing their carbon footprint. Their first step is refillable packaging. When shopping for your first (or next) eco-friendly product, here’s a couple of things to keep in mind. If you see anything plastic-wrapped, that’s an instant red flag – you can find an eco-friendlier option by going for a product packaged in tin or cardboard. Remember, we’re trying to reduce, reuse and recycle.

2.Reduce your water usage

An essential tip when washing your face is to always (and I mean always) turn off your water when you’re not using it. It’s honestly such a simple step but overlooked way too much. It can make a world of difference to water wastage.

3. Join the biodegradable club

Self-evidently, this one goes without saying, but make-up wipes and cotton pads are probably the biggest form of single-use waste known to man-kind. Let’s do our part by switching out our one-time-use wipes for reusable make-up pads or bamboo cotton buds. Do what’s suitable for our planet – we believe in you.

4. Shop sustainably sourced ingredients

The beautiful thing about technology is that it truly is in the palm of our hands. We are able to use it whenever and wherever. So why not use it for the greater good and do a little research, start looking for products that avoid harm to the environment. What goes into your products is as important as the packaging it comes in – keep that in mind.
